Let us know your product ideas for IBM Connections & Docs

With the shutdown of Greenhouse we also lost the platform where customers, business partner and even IBMers could give input on improvements and new features for the Connections platform.  With our new Connections Product Idea Lab you are now able to give that crucial feedback again and the whole community can vote on it, allowing Offering Management to get a better idea on what is really important to you. This probably isn’t big news to you and might have heard it before. But did you also know, that the Docs team is also eager hearing from you? They have their…

Error “INFO This iFix is not for your current DocsConversion version.” when installing IBM Docs 2.0 CR3 iFix001

In another blog entry I had been asked by Kenneth if it is an expected behaviour, that when installing CR3 iFix001 you get the message “INFO This iFix is not for your current DocsConversion version.” if you installed the Linux version of the Conversion Server.  After checking back with developement this is indeed a defect.  To go around this and also deploy the fix for the conversion server please follow those instructions: 1. Login the server on which DMGR is running, change directory to DMGR_INSTALL_ROOT/config/cells/CELL_NAME/IBMDocs-config, for example 2. In the file conversion-config.json, search “build-info”, and add one line — “ifix_version”:…

Introducing the Visual Update 1 for IBM Connections (Project Periscope)

With the introduction of the IBM Connections Customizer it is now possible to customize the end user interface of IBM Connections 6.0 without having to touch the actual code, since it acts as a proxy between the End Users device and Connections and renders the required changes on the fly. This is a great feature for an on-premises Connections environment. But it is even better for our Connections Cloud, because here we cannot have each customer customize “our” environment by placing files in “our” Connections installation. With the Customizer customers can now even change the UI of Connections Cloud to…

IBM Connections Docs 2.0 CR3 has been released

Today IBM Docs 2.0 CR3 has hit FixCentral! Aside from fixes the two biggest things in my point of view are: Support for the Conversion Server on Linux: This way you can know deploy all of Docs one platform of your choice: Windows or Linux. No need for a mandatory Windows server at customers, that run a Linux only strategy. Important note: currently the Linux Conversion Server does not, yet, support the Graphical Installer. So if you are planning on deploying using it on Linux, install all needed components except the Conversion server first in version 2.0, then upgrade them…
