The new TinyMCE 5 editor is available for free, which allows you to extend and customise the editor in Connections even more with over 50 possible Plugins that allow you to bring in even more functionality! 3. Leave a CommentDocker has found a vulnerability in Docker CE and has fixed it in the current version (CVE-2019-5736). The Connections team has successfully tested Docker CE 18.06.2 and is recommending to upgrade to this version. If you are using Docker EE you should stay at 17.03.x for now, as this is the only supported version. You can find the new prerequisites here. You can find out how to upgrade your environment here.
Leave a CommentI had been asked, what exactly I will be missing, if I don’t have the Component Pack / Customizer Lite / Elasticsearch standalone installed, as these add additional functionalities, which in some parts integrate seamlessly and it is hard to tell which component it is based on. The reason behind this question is, that the Component Pack requires a different technology stack (Docker, Kubernetes, Helm) than the base Connections one, which is built on WebSphere, so some customers have not deployed that, yet. The Component Pack right now basically has 3 major components it provides: Orient Me, Customizer as well…

Leave a CommentLast October the IBM has released CR3 for IBM Connections 6.0. This update centered our efforts on streamlining the user experience and providing a more contemporary UI with features focused on usability, engagement, and maintenance. It started delivering what we had promised since IBM Think last year and focussed on customer feedback and requirements. We brought new and quick access to recently used Communities as well as Files, making it much easier to get to the content a user mostly likely is looking for. A major change was to include ICEC for communities as the Highlights app for free to Connections. This allows community manager to create very…
5 CommentsI just happened to have an issue on a Connections 6.0 environment, where after installing an CR the community overview page kept reloading indefinitely. Stopping the RichTextEditor app prevented that behaviour but of course this is not permanent solution. Matthias Schneider from my team pointed me in the right direction: For the RTE Widget to function properly the role for person in the Files app must be set to All Authenticated in Application’s Realm. So I checked the role setting in my environment and indeed it was set to Everyone instead: I then changed it to All Authenticated in Application’s Realm… … restarted the…
Leave a CommentIBM Docs CR3 ifix006 has hit FixCentral just now. While it is “only” an ifix it does come with a very welcome change for presentations: The file size limit has been increased to 300 Slides and 100 MB file size and the limit of 3000 objects within a presentation has been removed. This definitely will help many customers with larger presentations. In addition to the previous copy formatting has been added. Here the complete list of fixes: Common: Fixed the issue of failing to open files when the browser language setting is en-* other than en, en-us, or en-gb by providing a…
